Finally got to sorting out my paints and came across a small bottle of iridescent gold that had never been used. Must have had this for years and thought it had probably dried up but, no, good as new so I put it to test on a painting that needed a bit of glitz. Not sure that you can see the beautiful effects that different light throws on the surface but it reminded me of ancient Egypt – so here is A Pharaoh’s Odyssey complete with hieroglyphics that I printed out on tissue paper to represent the delicacy of papyrus.
Just submitted 4 artworks for the 1st round of selection of the SWA’s annual Open Exhibition at the Mall Galleries. I was lucky enough to be a part of this prestigious exhibition in 2013 so am crossing my fingers for 2015 – will know if I’ve got into the 2nd round on 7th April – seems a long, long wait!
After finishing my Jane Davies course I decided that I just must tidy up the studio, paper, paint, etc all over the place – so bad I hardly had room to get in! Good idea to do this housekeeping more often as I came across a painting I’d started last year and totally forgotton about.
After a few last minute adjustments its finally finished and ready to be mounted, so here is Silver Birch!
